Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm; 72 hrs/2wks
JOB Summary:
Performs the initial evaluation by obtaining medical history, patient concerns, performs examination tests and prepares equipment for physician as needed.
Assists with surgical procedures, administers topical medications or diagnostic drugs prescribed by the physician.
Maintains knowledge of diagnostic coding, monitoring the completion of charge slips are accurately completed by the physician.
Ensures examination rooms are properly stocked, cleaned and that equipment is ready and in working order for daily use.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. COA, COT or COMT certification within one year of employment.
Minimum of training in ophthalmic diagnostic and treatment procedures, including basic ophthalmic workup, diagnostic equipment listed below and ophthalmic surgery experience preferred.
